Ghost: The Musical

Another highlight of the year added to my list of unforgettable experiences this 2014. Since my uncle is an avid fan of creative theater arts and live musical performances (both local and international), I cannot ignore the fact that I am really lucky to get to go with him in these kinds of events, and honestly, I love them. I may have a thing for rugged and rebel bands, but there's nothing wrong with liking a whole different genre that basically sits at the other side of the music universe.

Ghost: The Musical, would be my very first article that features an artistic exhibition, and I'd like to start it off just right. What better way to introduce this than to show you guys off with Filipino pride. The ability of the Filipino theater to produce this kind of production that's basically a remake of something remarkable worldwide, is just exceptional. I've watched a couple of musicals before like Cats, and Carrie, and quite frankly we cannot deny that international acts contribute a lot to showcasing Filipino theater to the audience, BUT, Filipinos are a natural at this. Number one thing you should take note on this musical is that, both the lead casts are Filipinos (Christian Bautista & Cris Villonco). They had chemistry, which made the whole thing work. It wasn't awkward and it wasn't forced, the acts were naturally delivered and I'm a fan of that to be honest.

Taking photos inside the theater (RCBC Theater) was strictly prohibited which kind of sucked and at the same time really smart because you can really focus on the performance and the story and just absorb all the emotions shown by the actors.

Ghost: The Musical (it actually premiered last April 25,2014), is a story about two lovers. Sam (Christian Bautista) and Molly's (Cris Villonco) relationship took an extraordinary turning point after a horrible incident which caused Sam's death. The couple then faces a not-so-normal kind of challenge because they were stuck in two worlds. Sam had to communicate with Molly through a psychic, who helped in sorting out everything in the end.

The part that really made me cry--and don't judge me--was the part where Sam was finally out of the spirit world and now able to go to heaven because his mission was done. Molly was able to see him and the line: "It's beautiful Molly", broke me down to tears. It was really emotional and a lot to take in.

With a mix of drama, romance and a dash of comedy, you won't find any reason to be bored out with this musical. The story was although unrealistic, it was worth watching and I'll definitely recommend it to my readers.
