Amidst the endless traffic of mind boggling exams and hectic extra-curricular schedules, one event—although it was my first time—made its mark and proved itself blog-worthy. PRISM is an annual event held by my fellow students from BGM. Their course mainly specializes on the arts, traditional or digital. They focus on design and truly worked hard on showcasing their talents in this college wide activity. There was no entrance fee which allowed us an unlimited access to the art exhibits prepared by the BGM click. It was held in our huge auditorium and was open for probably a couple of weeks.

Everyone was welcome, although people who weren’t from the campus had to pay a fee to see the exhibits. Each booth was personalized by every student/group of students, creating and reflecting their own brand name and persona. It was something that represented them as an artist and, I was very much impressed with what I witnessed. Although the performers weren’t quite prepared which bothered me a little bit. Few people sat in front of the stage to witness that eye-cringing performers who seem really flustered once they started singing whatever it is they were told to perform; the bright side of it is that, the art—which were the main act of the event—satisfied its visitors. From typical paintings, to edgy cutouts, and amazing graphics on LED televisions, it was worth skipping some hours of study time considering the fact that we really didn’t pay for any fee at all.

We explored the exhibits for almost two hours, complete with photo ops and a chance to buy some souvenirs and taste some free food. Despite the awful music from the bands onstage, we took our time grasping the experience that is PRISM. Until now, I have no idea why it was called as such. I wasn’t able to come to their exhibit last year because it was held off campus and it was a hassle really. Luckily this time, they gave their fellow students a chance to see their talent. Made me wonder if it is too late to switch courses; kidding aside, PRISM is an event to watch out for, especially for those who appreciate art and artists-in-the-making.
