Some days just surprise you when you leave them off unplanned. For the past rave events I’ve been to, Silent Sanctuary has and always will be the band I’d be most looking forward to. Being a fan of them for years led me to chasing them off on Facebook live videos, and not-so-far away gigs that usually end up on an epic fail stench. Here’s when things started to turn around for me and this band. My high school alma mater announced this year's end party they’ll be having for the college students, and their guest artist would be, yes, you guessed it—Silent Sanctuary. It was really convenient for me because; 1. Entrance is free and 2. My school is just a couple of minutes away. It was really a great opportunity to finally see them up close and personal. I saw them once before, in Redvolution Manila. They played for an hour, and they were late, so you could just imagine the post-concert hangover I had after seeing them for the first time. Surely it wasn’t enough, and I thought this was definitely it. The day came and I came there to the event not knowing the surprise that was in-store for me.

I was casually walking towards the venue inside the campus when I was ‘Kuya Sarkie’ the vocalist himself sitting by the school canteen having a smoke with his friend. I couldn’t believe it myself, even my best friend who came with me literally stuttered as we came across the guy. Fortunately, although it barely came to my senses--that this was the guy behind the epic OPM lullabies I’ve been listening to since I was a freshman in high school—we were able to snap a photo with him.

WE were literally star struck after what happened. We were fangirling so hard we were shaking throughout the entire afternoon show. ‘Kuya Jason’, one of the band members, even smiled at us. It was crazy. The day wasn’t at all planned out, we just went there to see a show, not knowing what unimaginable things could happen.
