5 SECONDS OF SUMMER

As cliche as it sounds, I've been desperately dreaming of finally having the chance to watch this band live and on stage. Since the summer of 2013, I began watching these young guys' amazing covers on Youtube. I never thought that they would actually sell out arenas all over the globe, and thinking that their fame and success all came rushing so fast throughout the years, it was hard to think that they were just 'one-hit-wonders'.
I remember back when they would frequently livestream their sessions on Youtube and I would stay up all night just to finish it if I had to. I would join street teams (huge fanbases) here in the Philippines just to be updated on the latest news about the four Aussie boys. I was actually thankful for those experiences because I met new people locally and internationally. Having the same interests as those other people made me grateful for this band, of course, I was still more grateful for their music.
Their genre was similar to All Time Low, if you are familiar with the long time band, and other pop-punk artists. They were often categorized as a 'boyband' because they were closely affilliated with the timeless One Direction.
March 12 started off as an epic night actually. This was also the date of the Accountancy Department Night in my University so I was completely torn, but who am I to pass up this first (and quite possibly the last I'll ever get to watch live) ever concert of 5SOS in the country. I left the party earlier than 9 PM and traveled to Manila from Cavite. When we arrived to the arena, they already started as expected, 'Good Girls' was on. I got to enjoy one solid hour of their phenomenal performance, but it literally felt like 5 seconds (get it).
Supporting an artist or artists from the rockbottom of their careers up until they're finally on stage as headliners of their own world tour makes you feel accomplished yourself. I know they still have an endless way to go--more songs to release, more albums to record, more concerts to sell out--but from the moment I saw them on stage, I knew they'll make their fans (us) even more prouder.
